The new must have cosmetic procedure for anyone wanting to look good, and make the right first time appearance has to be tooth bleaching (Zähne bleichen), or in extreme cases tooth implants and veneers fitted to the front of the teeth to make them look spot on perfect. Celebrities such as Katie Price, Ronan Keating and Jodie Marsh are all rumoured to have had work done, in the bid to have the perfect set of teeth. Implants which portray perfect teeth, enable British celebrities to keep up with this growing trend in America, where most people have opted to have perfect teeth, the whiter the teeth the better. The Bee Gees were rumoured to have had dental implant work done back in there heyday, but this was not a common practice way back at the beginning of the 1980’s. With most people in Britain signed up to an NHS dentist, dental implants and bleaching was simply not on offer. Dentists were just in place to keep people pain free, and to straighten teeth out.
As trends have moved on and the need for dental implant surgery and good teeth has become an issue, many of the NHS dentists now offer people the chance to have good teeth, but this comes at a price, and most only offer this to people as privately paying patients, meaning that a patient can expect to pay 3 times more than if they were having the same treatment on the NHS. Although implants do look good, and give out the right signals to anyone in the magazine or film industry, these are purely done in the name of vanity.
Healthcare and dentistry certainly has moved on over the latter 100 years, surgery such as dental implants would simply not have been heard of at the beginning of the 1900’s, just to find a dentist who could offer a tooth out with pain relief was a bonus. It is computer technology which has allowed for most of these new procedures. The pure fact that you can now go to the dentist and pay for teeth bleaching, to enable you to have a dazzling smile, has got to be one procedure which is worth its weight in gold.
